But thats irrelevant to what OP asked anyway, since we all agree that it's 1/100. His overall success rate was close to 1/100, sample was over 10000 attempts. and he included number of AP/MP exos (well over 100) along with number of attempts in his Imps sig. Probably the best record I have ever read was by Yuna (from Rosal back then, not sure if he still plays and which server these days if he still does). I created a thread on the OF asking for anyone to help locate this source on the French OF. I feel the changelog does still exist, however, in French. It does seem to have been copied from an official source, though (It also makes this claim at the end). It backs up the 1% success rate, however it is not canon as it is obviously not from Ankama themselves. I have found that I can easily exotically mage critical resistance on (or indeed any relative stat such as +10 initiative) with no sink, which I tend to do regularly when dropping an overmaged stat to focus on other stat building.Įdit: While researching, I found this (player made) page. The success does not seem to be augmented by sink - and why would it? It makes sense to actually decrease the success rate with sink, because there is no penalty when you have, for instance, 95 remaining sink from an ap drop/crit, and all other stats are maxed - this would allow you to attempt 47 critical resistances with no penalty. Try testing this with a smaller stat, e.g. My opinion is still that sink does not influence the success rate. Perhaps as they changed the system (possibly including the success rate) and their attitude and methods, they felt the need to remove the changelog (which would have otherwise given us more information to overpower our characters). I can only agree though, that there is no known current public record of the success rate. It is very frustrating, as I have seen the changelog, both recently and when it was implemented (I have been maging since before this smithmagic system was implemented). Its almost human nature to want to make some thing that is special, more complicated than it needs to be for no explainable reason. If I was a developer on this project, I would be soooo tempted to add a layer of complexity to the Exo maging part of the system - because it is such a coveted secret. Does it make sense that they would overhaul the whole system with this in mind, but leave the 1% chance of exo alone? The interesting thing though, is that a lot of the motivation behind the mass overhaul on the Smithmagic system was strongly influenced by the fact that the previous system relied on chance too much. I am still very curious how the assumed 1% base Exo probability became popular belief but perhaps it is all best left a mystery. However, it looks like nobody can really prove any of this as there seems to be a lack of public documentation available on the matter. I know a lot of you are just gonna straight up LololoLolOllol at this post because there has been a million like it, but why does it seem like there are more than a few people that subscribe to this theory if it is total bullshit? Maybe this was true at one time, long ago - and they changed it? Or maybe these people are just delusional and would also drink poisoned kool-aid if you told them it would let them board an alien spaceship that would take them to heaven. Or, is the chance to land an exo possibly increased if you lose the AP, don't put it back on, and then attempt the exo? Like, ya know when overmaging stats go on way easier once a big sink stat has fallen off. How can anyone prove that the actual chance to exo an item is only 1%? Is this true, and if so how on earth could you prove it? Personally I think this is just an urban legend. This particular individual even threw out a number around 8% verses the 1%, that seems to be the consensus. Specifically someone was telling me that is why the Kralomansion is so popular to MP mage, because if you lose the AP when the amulet has nice stats, then get a crit success putting the AP back on you get 90+ sink - thus increasing the chance of an exotic stat landing. The more Sink, the higher the base 1% chance increases. So, I have heard a few people lately trying to convince me that there is more of a chance of an AP/MP rune sticking as an exotic stat on an item if said item has +Sink.
